Instructional
Leader: School Superintendent Preparation Program |

This program prepares individuals to become leaders
of school districts. These
individuals have been principals or supervisors and desire to become
superintendents, which means they have taken at least the principal
preparation curriculum. Further, this means they demonstrated their
ability to meet the Interstate Leadership Licensure Consortium ISLLC
Standards, which the Kentucky Educational Professional Standards
Board adopted in November 1998.
The
curriculum is listed below. Requirements
for Admission
Individuals applying for admission must meet all requirements for admission to The Graduate School, University of Kentucky as defined by the Bulletin of The Graduate School current at the time of application, and requirements for admission of the Department of Educational Leadership Studies, including but not limited to: 2. Three years full-time teaching experience 3. Master’s degree from an accredited institution of higher education, with a total cumulative grade point average of no less than 3.0 on a 4.0 scale 4. Three letters of recommendation 5. Completion of Level I and Level II preparation and certification for any one of the following positions:

7. Approval of the Department of Educational Leadership Studies admissions committee Curriculum
The
program requirements for the Professional Certificate for Instructional
Leadership-School Superintendent include completion of a minimum of
36 course credit hours, and must include the following courses (12
hrs) or equivalent substitute courses as approved by the Department
of Educational Leadership Studies: EDA
639 The School Superintendency (3 hrs) The
remaining course credit hours must include those courses needed to
complete Level I and Level II preparation the principal or the instructional
supervisor (under a pre-1998 “old” program plan, or under a 1998 and
beyond “new” program plan). Continuous
Assessment
Students who complete this preparation program passed the continuous assessment process for principal preparation. This is evidence that the individual demonstrated her/his ability to meet the Interstate Leadership Licensure Consortium (ISLLC) Standards.
