UK College of Education EDP 664 Syllabi

EDP 664 Pre Masters Practicum in Counseling Psychology Supervised experience in application of diagnostic and interviewing techniques in a counseling service. May be repeated to a maximum of twelve credits. Lecture, three hours; laboratory, 12 hours per three credit hours. Prereq: EDP 652 and EDP 661 and Master's candidacy in counseling and approval of departmental counseling committee.

EDP 664 is intended to support counseling psychology program goals: (1) Ethical decision-making and responsible professional behavior, (3) Interpersonal and cross-cultural sensitivity, (4) Psychological Assessment, (5) Individual, family, and group intervention, (6) Community Education and Prevention, and (7) Professional leadership and Responsibility.

Usually two sections of six students each are offered. The Practicum Coordinator, Professor Stilwell, has worked with the Counseling Psychology Program faculty to optimize the student placement and section assignment. If you intend to apply for a doctoral level internship, you need to ensure that you start your UK practicum experiences by keeping records on the practicum hours record AND on the current APPIC application.
