The Accelerated Distance-Learning option is an innovative web-based Masters degree rehabilitation counseling program. This program was developed by the C.O.R.E. accredited rehabilitation counseling graduate program at the University of Kentucky to meet the unique learning needs of state rehabilitation counselors. It can be completed by full-time employed rehabilitation personnel in a 16-month time frame. The program is fully accessible.

The Accelerated Distance-Learning program was developed in response to three needs: (a) the U.S. Congress mandated that all rehabilitation counselors employed in the state-federal rehabilitation system have Masters degrees in order to practice; (b) currently employed counselors who did not have masters degrees found it difficult to attend campus-based classes while continuing to provide uninterrupted services to their clients; and (c) traditional on-campus graduate programs in rehabilitation counseling were unable to meet the demand for trained rehabilitation counselors.
