Dr. DeYoung is currently involved in a study of university student lives
and the subcultures of the universities they participate in. This is
his primary student group of third-year American Studies students at the
International University of Kyrgyzstan. Secondary and university
students in the Kyrgyz Republic are organized into cohorts and have very
few curricular choices or electives as we know them. This group of
students theoretically is comprised of individuals who will stay
together for a full five year university career. There are no part-time
students in this university who come and go during the day. All
students are supposed to be in class from 5 - 7 hours per day, six days
a week. DeYoung has been following the progress of this group for 2
years now. |
