The Institute
for Educational Research will provide services to faculty to support
scholarly inquiry, and proposal development and submission efforts and
indirectly through linkages with broad array of University, state and
federal government as well as the private sector providers. These services
unconditionally are available to faculty in the College of Education.
- Research
Planning and Development: Provide a place for individual
faculty as well as those interested in working collaboratively to convene,
discuss, plan and conduct research studies including interdepartmental,
interdisciplinary, inter-institutional, and international initiatives.
The IER will provide travel
funds and logistical support to facilitate convening scholars with
common research interests and shared commitment to securing external
support.
- Proposal
Preparation: The IER will make available resources to support
faculty in identifying promising areas of inquiry, locating potential
funding sources, preparing and submitting external grant proposals.
Research assistants will work with faculty in conducting literature
searches associated with preparing external grant proposals, assemble
information, and provide logistical support in throughout the proposal
development and submission processes including copying and mailing.
- College
Grants Office: Faith Cordray will provide a range of pre-award services
including: assisting
faculty in refining research ideas, identifying
internal and external funding opportunities; analyzing RFP’s;
accessing information from a wide range of public and private sector
sources to
support proposal preparation, preparing proposal budgets (current
overhead rate information, fringe benefits, indirect cost rates
and policies),
advising researchers on intellectual property policies, reviewing
proposals for compliance with University, state, and federal guidelines
and laws,
and promotes projects among potential funding sources. The College
Grants Officer will also assist faculty in completing required
internal approval
forms [Financial Disclosure/Conflict of Interest Forms] as well
as serve as the liaison for completing College and University internal
reviews
as well as formal proposal submission processes.
- Resources: The IER’s
supports students and faculty in their research endeavors by providing
information and consulting services
as well as links to useful college and campus resources through its
Pre and Post-Award web pages.
