UK College of Education Kinesiology and Health Promotion
Minor in Dance

Requirements for Program:

The Department of Kinesiology and Health Promotion offers undergraduate courses and degree programs in kinesiology (physical education), health promotion, and dance. These programs support the unit's conceptual framework theme, Research and Reflection for Learning and Leading. The processes of inquiry and reflective decision-making are embedded in the departmental philosophy that candidates learn best through experiencing. Faculty are committed to preparing effective, knowledgeable, professional, and motivated reflective practitioners who support learning for all students, use current research in the field, and serve as leaders in their schools or agencies.

The minor in dance is for persons interested in dance who may wish to do graduate work in dance, apply dance principles to teaching in K-12 school settings, or in private studio work in dance. Persons interested in the dance minor should anticipate that it will take between two and a half to three years to complete the full set of courses, as each course is not taught every semester.
