Named to the Alumni Hall of Fame in 1998

George Blanda earned his bachelor's degree from the college in 1948. Blanda was quarterback, punter, and kicker for the Wildcats under then-Coach Paul "Bear" Bryant. He went on to become the all-time leading scorer in professional football, and his record of 2,002 points still stands today. Blanda also holds the longest professional football career ever, with 16 NFL and 10 American Football League seasons and a total of 340 games. He is one of only 20 players to play the entire ten years of the AFL, a member of the All-Time All-AFL Team, and of the American Football League Hall of Fame. He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1981. He is a native of Youngwood, Pennsylvania.
