UK College of Education Nancy McClure, emeritus
faculty member, dies


Professor emeritus Nancy McClure, 84, died Sunday, September 5, 2004. Before coming to the College of Education to teach, Ms. McClure was a former assistant principal at Lafayette Junior High School.

A native of Winchester, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Rev. Dr. Marvin P. and Grace R. McClure.

She earned a Bachelor’s Degree from Transylvania then followed with a masters degree from the University of Kentucky College of Education in 1954. She was a member of several teacher associations and was active with Kappa Delta Pi, Phi Delta Kappa, The Delta Kappa Gamma Society International, and Alpha Gamma of Kentucky.

Ms. McClure was a member of Park United Methodist Church where she was active in many roles, including service as President of the Park United Methodist Women.

She was buried at Winchester Cemetery. Honorary Casket bearers were Mark Brown, Thomas Dunn, Dr. Lawrence Harris, Louie Mack, Thomas Mahanes, Dr. Walter Marcum, Joe David Martin, Dr. J. R. Ogletree, Dr. Edgar Sagan, William W. Sharp, Carl Spivey, and Dean Stevens.
