UK College of Education Clasey named a UK Great Teacher

Jody Clasey, an associate professor in the College of Education’s Department of Kinesiology and Health Promotion, is one of six UK professors who the UK Alumni Association will honor at the 2006 Great Teacher Awards.

In addition to Clasey, the 2006 recipients are: Barry Kew, assistant professor of landscape architecture, College of Agriculture; John Mink, professor and acting division chief of pediatric dentistry, College of Dentistry; Daniel Rowland, director of the Gaines Center for Humanities, associate professor, College of Arts and Sciences; Sidney Whiteheart, professor, College of Medicine; and Ross Zirkle, assistant professor, College of Fine Arts.

This is the 45th anniversary of the Great Teacher award. It is the oldest continuous award for recognizing excellent teaching at the University of Kentucky. Nominations are made by students. Selection of the award recipients is made by the UK Alumni Association Great Teacher Awards Committee, in cooperation with student organizations Omicron Delta Kappa and Mortar Board.

The recipients will be honored at the Great Teacher Awards Dinner and Recognition Ceremony at the King Alumni House at 5:30 p.m. April 13. UK President Lee T. Todd Jr. will be the guest speaker. Reservations are now being accepted.

Award recipients will receive citations, engraved plaques and $2,000 cash awards.
