The UK College of Education hosted a special reception in honor of alumnae Sharon Porter Robinson, ’66, ’76, ’79, during the national conference of the American Association of Colleges for Teacher Education (AACTE) in San Diego in January. The reception paid tribute to Dr. Robinson’s career as a national leader in education and celebrated her appointment as president and CEO of AACTE.

AACTE colleagues from Kentucky, Robinson’s home state, attended the reception along with several friends and professional associates. Dean James G. Cibulka offered congratulations to Dr. Robinson on behalf of the University of Kentucky.

A Louisville native, Robinson’s career involved terms as director of the National Center for Innovation at the National Education Association and assistant secretary in the U.S. Department of Education’s Office of Educational Research and Improvement. In 1997 she joined the Educational Testing Service (ETS). Before her appointment to AACTE, she was serving as executive vice president at ETS and director of the organization’s Educational Policy Leadership Institute.

In 1991, the College of Education inducted Robinson into their Alumni Hall of Fame, the highest honor the college bestows upon its graduates.
