UK College of Education Lynda Brown Wright honored

College of Education associate professor Lynda Brown Wright has been named to Grambling  State University's Hall of Fame Gallery of Distinction.  Wright received her undergraduate degree at Grambling in Psychology.

Among the extraordinary accomplishments that were noted during the recent ceremony, it was stated that Brown Wright “is a scholar and leader who has distinguished herself as trailblazer for social justice throughout her life. Her on-going and continued leadership is manifest in a sense of purpose and has opened many doors for African Americans throughout her academic and professional career.”

Brown Wright who is Chair of the Department of Educational and Counseling Psychology has a Ph.D. in counseling psychology from Texas A & M University. Her current areas of research interests include psychosocial and familial influences on African American child development; determinants of academic achievement among children and youth of color; and psychosocial correlates of the development of cardiovascular disease risk in children and youth. She currently teaches courses in assessment and multicultural development. Wright is a Commonwealth Collaborative and National Institutes of Health Career Development Award recipient.

Grambling State University, based in Grambling, La., has traditionally celebrated and honored the accomplishments of outstanding alumni who have made substantial and unique contributions to society and the university. Grambling State University’s alumni are recognized nationally and internationally as exceptional individuals who perform extraordinary feats within and beyond their areas of study and practice. These are the individuals who Grambling State University has traditionally celebrated by bestowing them with the honor of induction into the Hall of Fame’s Gallery of Distinction.
