The University of Kentucky College of Education, in conjunction with the University of Louisville and the University of Cincinnati, is hosting the annual Spring Research Conference on Saturday, April 21 at the Campbell House Inn in Lexington. Participation in the conference is open to all interested College of Education graduate students.

According to Eric Anderman, associate dean of the UK College of Education, the day mirrors other conferences where papers and posters are displayed and presentations are given. More importantly, though, it serves as a learning experience for students.

“This is a great opportunity for students to present their research in a friendly and professional environment.” said Anderman. “But it is also a learning experience for our students as they prepare to share their research at conferences on a national stage.”

The keynote speaker for the conference is Dr. Allan Wigfield, chair of the Human Development Department, Institute for Child Study, at the University of Maryland College of Education. Wigfield’s areas of emphasis include achievement motivation, motivation for reading, self-concept, and gender differences. Wigfield is also the former associate editor of the Journal of Educational Psychology and Child Development, and has recently been appointed as an editor for the American Educational Research Journal.

The deadline to submit a proposal is March 19, and  registration is open until April 9.  Additionally,  students in the UK College of Education can register and attend the conference for free. More information and a registration form are available. Breakfast and lunch are also provided at no cost to conference attendees. For more information, contact Michelle Traynor, assistant to the associate dean for research and graduate studies, at 859-257-9795 or at traynor@uky.edu
