College of Education

Gary Stingle Scholarship and Awards Banquet, 2002

The college held it's annual Scholarship and Awards Banquet on April 26 to honor students and faculty for their achievements. The event featured the largest turnout of new scholarship recipients ever in the short history of the banquet.

Highlights were the performance of the Acoustikats, an a capella vocal group from the UK School of Music. They performed several hits from the 1950s and even serenaded Ruth Webb Kelly, a special guest and donor to the College of Education. Acting Dean Ed Sagan added his own unique sense of humor as program emcee.

UK Provost Mike Nietzel brought greetings from the administration and expressed his thanks and congratulations to the scholarship donors and recipients. President Emeritus Frank Dickey made a few comments as well. He was among the donors being honored that evening for establishing a new scholarship at the college.

Before the faculty awards presentation, Ralph Crystal, chair of the faculty awards committee, made special presentations to deans Harris and Sagan for their years of service to the college.
Over $80,000 in scholarships and awards were presented to students in 2002. Below are some pictures of the event. (Click on the photos for more details.) You can also see a listing of this year's scholarship and award recipients.
