UK
hosted the annual Spring Research Conference |
|
The Spring Research Conference was held on Saturday, April 3rd, 2004. The conference is jointly sponsored by the University of Louisville, the University of Cincinnati, and the University of Kentucky, and the location rotates among the three institutions annually. The UK College of Education was host this year, and the event was very successful. The purpose of this meeting was to provide students an opportunity to present research proposals in a "friendly" yet formal setting, and to get constructive feedback from faculty and colleagues. There were over 100 participants, 13 sessions, 16 posters, and more than 50 presentations. There was also a panel discussion on the transition from student to faculty entitled "The Research Perspective" by three UK College of Education faculty members. Ted Hasselbring, Professor in Special Education and Rehabilitation Counseling, presented information on grant acquisition. Robert Shapiro, event organizer and Professor in Kinesiology and Health Promotion, discussed considerations when human subjects are involved in research. Eric Anderman, Associate Professor in Educational and Counseling Psychology, gave advice on publishing research. The conference
proceedings were published and are available
on-line.
