Foundation awards 12 doctoral students fellowships

Over $12,000 in graduate fellowships for 12 students in school administration at the UK College of Education have been awarded for the Spring Semester, 2001 according to John E. Moyers, board chair of the Kentucky Scottish Rites Foundation (KSRF). Moyers stated that this was the first time the Kentucky Scottish Rites Foundation was able to expand its fellowship programs to include the University of Kentucky.

Shirley Raines, Dean of the UK College of Education, stated, "We are grateful to the Scottish Rites Foundation for their generosity in offering our students these scholarships."

The following graduate students from Central Kentucky receiving doctoral fellowships are: Chuck Hamilton, Lebanon; Scott Brown, Richmond; Larry Woods and Lucinda Sanders, Lancaster; Donna Kerley, Maurice Chappell, Kate McAnelly, and Peggy Petrilli, all of Lexington.

Other graduate students receving doctoral fellowships include: Jerry Owens, Walton; Diana Stratton, Fort Thomas; Michael Ford, Burlington; and Glen Miller of Erlanger.

The purpose of the doctoral fellowships, said Moyers, is to promote excellence in Kentucky's public schools.
