Lena C. Bailey Scholarship Fund for Eastern Kentucky Teachers

Established in 2000 by George Bailey in memory of his wife, Lena C. Bailey

The Lena C. Bailey Scholarship is awarded to an eastern Kentucky teacher(s) to earn college credits. Awards may also be made for summer courses or special institutes for University of Kentucky credits. The scholarship may be awarded to the same person(s) more than once. Scholarship recipient(s) will be determined by the College of Education Scholarship Committee.


College of Education Development Council Graduate Tuition Scholarship

Recipients of this scholarship must be full or part time graduate students. Recipients must be fully admitted to the a graduate program in the College of Education and have a 3.50 GPA from a previous college/university program.


George Denemark Scholarship Fund

Established in 1985 honoring George Denemark.

The George Denemark Scholarship is awarded annually to a graduate student whose career goal is to become a professional teacher-educator. Scholarship recipient(s) will be determined by the dean of the College of Education and the college's Scholarship Committee.


Sarah Ruth Geurin Scholarship Fund

Established in 1987 by a bequest from the estate of Sarah Ruth Geurin.

The Sarah R. Geurin scholarship is awarded annually to student(s) enrolled at the College of Education who have demonstrated potential for success. Sarah Geurin scholarships are awarded to: undergraduate(s), graduate(s), Master's with Initial Certification student(s), and in support of Overseas Student Teaching. Scholarship recipient(s) will be determined by the College of Education Scholarship Committee.


Martin-Thacker Scholarship Fund

Established in 1998 by Leslie L. Martin and Helen Thacker Hill

The Martin-Thacker Scholarship(s) shall be awarded to full time rehabilitation counseling students who have certified disabilities and have met all requirements for admission to the Master's Degree program or higher in the Department of Special Education and Rehabilitation Counseling. Recipients are preferred to be from a rural area and are committed to careers in the rehabilitation of developmentally disabled adults in rural areas. Upon completion of the Masters or Doctoral degree, recipients must agree, in writing, to serve for a minimum of two years in a rehabilitation facility/program that serves individuals with developmental disabilities in rural areas of the state of Kentucky. Preference is given to those students with a certified disability. However, if none apply, the award may go to any deserving student(s) who has met the requirements for admission into the rehabilitation counseling program. Scholarship recipient(s) will be determined by a Scholarship Committee as outlined in the endowment agreement.


Ola H. Miller Scholarship

This scholarship is awarded to graduate students who are working in the area of gifted education. Scholarship recipient(s) will be determined by the College of Education Scholarship Committee.


John Edwin Partington and Gwendolyn Gray Partington Scholarship Fund

Established in 2000 by John and Gwendolyn Partington in a bequest from their estate.

The John Edwin Partington and Gwendolyn Gray Partington scholarship is awarded to a graduate student(s) enrolled in the College of Education. Recipient(s) must show a need for financial assistance as determined by the College of Education Scholarship Committee. Scholarship recipient(s) will be determined by the College of Education Scholarship Committee.


Reading Scholarship Fund

Established in 1992

Recipient(s) of the Reading Scholarship shall be selected by a committee consisting of reading program faculty in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction. The Scholarship(s) shall be awarded to graduate students of promise, not need, enrolled in the College of Education's reading program. Preference will be given to doctoral students.


James Arvle Thacker Fund

Established June, 2004 by Helen Thacker Hill

This scholarship fund was established to assist Graduate students from Georgia and Kentucky who are enrolled in the Master’s Degree Web Based Rehabilitation Program. The recipient(s) must have completed 30 hours with a GPA of 3.7. Scholarship recipient(s) will be determined by the Rehabilitation and Counseling Department.


Barbara Ayres Threadgill Scholarship for Development

Established in 1992 in honor of Barbara Threadgill.

Eligible recipients of this scholarship are those students who, in the opinion of the scholarship committee, have demonstrated potential for academic success and have an interest in the College of Education's development program. Undergraduate sophomores, juniors, and graduate students may apply for this award. Scholarship recipient(s) will be determined by the College of Education Scholarship Committee.


Edgar L. and Marilyn A. Sagan Scholarship Fund

Established in 1990 in honor of Edgar and Marilyn Sagan by their children.

The Edgar L. and Marilyn A. Sagan scholarship provides support for graduate student(s) enrolled in the department of Educational Policy Studies and Evaluation. Preference is to assist a student(s) in pursuit of a degree in higher education or who are preparing for an administrative role in a college or university. The recipient(s) of this scholarship must be enrolled through the University of Kentucky's Graduate School in a program in the College of Education and must demonstrate financial need. Scholarship recipient(s) will be determined by the chair and faculty of the department of Educational Policy Studies and Evaluation.
