- Item A (PDF) - Proposal from the College of Communications to raise the undergraduate grade point average required for admission to its four undergraduate programs (Communications, General Editorial, Advertising and Telecommunications) from 2.6 to 3.0 for the 2002-03 year only. This proposal would "waive" (or suspend) the current provisions in Senate Rule 4.2.2.13 which now describe the minimum gpa as a 2.6 and say that "[a]ssuming all else is in order, applicants with a 2.60 undergraduate grade point average will be accepted."

- Recognition of Gifford Seymour Blyton, Parliamentarian of the University Senate:
The University Senate will honor Gifford Blyton, our long-standing Parliamentarian, for his gracious instruction of a long line of Senate Council Chairs on the arcane wisdom of Roberts Rules of Order. There will be spirited remarks from Stan Craig, a former student of Professor Blyton, Marcus McEllistrem, 1991 Senate Council chair, and Bob Bostrom, 1984 Senate Council Chair. Following these remarks we will adjourn to the Young Library gallery where a festive reception awaits. Members of the Board of Trustees, former debaters and Senate Council Chairs have been invited. Please join us to honor a man who has given so much for so long to the University of Kentucky.

- Item A - proposal to amend University Senate Rules Section IV - Undergraduate Admissions - Engineering
- For Discussion:
The Health Benefits committee chaired by Dr. Tom Samuel will release its preliminary recommendations for next year's health benefit plan -- premiums, UK contribution, benefit design, etc. The committee will answer questions and receive comments, which will be considered, along with comments from other forums, before the committee makes its final recommendation to President Todd. The committee has worked diligently over the last four months to fashion recommendations that attempt to address the health benefits concerns of the University community. - This is a very important report and all are invited. In addition to the Senate meeting, the following forums are scheduled:
- Nov. 13, 11:00 am -- Worsham Theatre
- Nov 15, 5 pm -- Room 115 Nursing Building
- Nov. 19, noon -- Seay auditorium
