Welcome to the College of Fine Arts

"To create, to think critically, to manage, and to continually experiment and learn—these are the core abilities that the College of Fine Arts’ majors and programs offer. In this process of making, appreciating, and managing the arts, you will refine your artistic sensibility while developing ethics of work and of craft. Whether you will become an arts professional, connoisseur, or advocate, you will continue to serve the mission of the University by making a vital contribution to the quality of life in the Commonwealth and in other communities. "
- Bob Shay, Dean of the College of Fine Arts

Focus on Faculty ...

Arturo A. Sandoval (UK Department of Art) was recently awarded the Kentucky Star for Visual Art.

The Kentucky Star Award is generally considered a lifetime achievement award for Kentuckians who have made significant artistic contributions. Recipients are from all art disciplines and selected by a panel of judges.

A pioneer in his field, during more than a three decade-long career Sandoval has woven a new aesthetic and a new paradigm for contemporary fiber art from non-traditional materials such as recycled computer tape, battery cable, holographic film and Lurex. His art interlaces 20th century industrial materials together in evocative explorations of such themes as terrorism, spirituality and politics. [read more].
