Jane Peters joined the University of Kentucky faculty in 1974. Dr. Peters teaches courses in early modern art including seminars on prints in the Western Tradition, Christian Iconography, 17th c. Dutch art, and on such individual artists as Hieronymus Bosch, Pieter Bruegel, Albrecht Dürer, and Doris Ulmann. She has taught in study abroad programs in Innsbruck, Vienna, Florence, and Verona. Prof. Peters currently serves as graduate advisor in Art History.
Dr. Peters did her graduate work on art in Northern Europe during the early modern period with a particular emphasis on prints and drawings. She has edited several volumes of The Illustrated Bartsch which feature 16th century German prints and plans to edit two further volumes in this series. She has published articles on Northern European drawings and contributed to an exhibition catalogue of master prints at the Cincinnati Art Museum collection. The University of Kentucky’s large collection of vintage photographs by Doris Ulmann has stimulated a more recent research interest in early 20th century American photography.
