Although each student is individually responsible for understanding degree requirements, advice from knowledgeable faculty and staff is crucial to academic success. Seeking proper advising will save you time and money by helping you select classes appropriate to your chosen major. Advisors can inform you about the frequency of offerings, special classes or sections, and other academic opportunities. Advisors can also discuss scholarships, fellowships, and career goals.
The Faculty of the department advise undergraduate students each semester during a special “Advising Day." This provides a full-day, one-stop advising service that eliminates the need to search out advisors and/or deliver forms from one office to another. The “Advising Day” will be scheduled on a Friday immediately before registration and will be announced each semester in classes and Arts Professions.
Advisors are also available by appointment throughout the academic year to assist students with specifics questions about the academic program, to discuss career options, or individual progress. All students are encouraged to meet with an advisor at times other than the advising period during regularly scheduled office hours to discuss these kinds of issues.
You may keep track of your academic progress by downloading and completing checksheets for any of our four undergraduate degrees.
