International
Opportunities
The Arts
Administration Program at the University of Kentucky has a
strong commitment to making international educational opportunities
available to students. Since its founding in 1988, students
from Venezuela, Taiwan, Japan, Germany, Korea and Poland have
earned degrees through the program. Additionally, the program’s
American students have studied abroad in countries such as
Germany, England, France, Italy and Costa Rica.
University
of Kentucky Students Study Abroad
The Arts Administration Program regularly organizes trips outside of the United States for students. For example, during the summer of 2002 Arts Administration faculty member Michael Braun taught a course in London entitled The Business of British Arts and Culture, and in 2004 and 2007 Braun taught courses in London entitled London's Theatres and Arts Administration faculty member Roger Paige taught courses in London entitled London's Museums. These courses were offered through the Cooperative Center for the Study Abroad (CCSA), which is an organization of 24 colleges and universities that work together to make study abroad opportunities in English-speaking countries available to students. Students participating in these trips spent a little over a month in London, staying at the Hampstead-Finchley Road campus of Kings College. Prior to taking these courses, students can also complete five-week internships in London or Dublin through CCSA. To learn more about CCSA, visit their web site at: www.nku.edu/~ccsa/. |

International
Students Study at the University of Kentucky
Students
from countries outside of the United States who wish to earn
their Arts Administration degree at the University of Kentucky
receive support and encouragement, not only from program’s
faculty, but from UK’s International Studies Program
(ISP), as well. The ISP assists international students with
immigration and enrollment issues, and then provides ample
support once they arrive on campus. All international students
receive special orientations, exploring life in the United
State, on campus, and in the surrounding community. English
as a Second Language classes are also available, and international
students can join student organizations from their own country,
and stay in international student dorms, if they wish. Additionally,
academic tutoring is available on an individual basis, or
through programs such as the Writing Center and the Math Resource
Center. For more information about the International Studies
Program, visit their web site at www.uky.edu/IntlAffairs/. |

University
of Kentucky/University of Burgundy Exchange Program
Another
international program involves a student exchange agreement
between the University of Kentucky (UK) and the University
of Burgundy (UB) in Dijon, France. This agreement specifies
that UK students who attend UB will pay the same tuition charges
that they would have paid at UK. The reverse is also true.
Students from UB who attend UK, pay the same tuition charges
they would have paid at UB.
Fortunately,
UB has an Arts Administration Program very similar to the
one at UK. Because of this and the exchange agreement, during
fall semester of 2002, two students from the University of
Burgundy came to Lexington and took classes in Arts Administration
at the University of Kentucky. Then, during spring semester
of 2003, the same students completed internships at two Lexington
arts organizations, the Woodsongs Old Time Radio Hour and
the Actors Guild of Lexington, and during the 2004/2005 academic year, a graduate of UK's Arts Administration Program taught English language courses at the University of Burgundy. The University of Burgundy’s
web site, is located at: www.u-bourgogne.fr |
