Students in the Arts Administration Program must complete at least six credit hours of internships to graduate. The purpose of these internships is to help students:

* Explore Arts Administration areas in which they may want to work once they graduate.
* Earn relevant Arts Administration work experience.
* Build professional contacts in the field.
* Understand the work-place demands faced by Arts Administrators.

Additionally, internships can turn into job offers, when students complete their internships toward the end of their academic studies. Many students start with a three-credit internship with an organization either on campus or in the Lexington community. These type of internships are helpful if a student has not had much experience working as an arts administrator, and would like to be introduced to the demands of the workplace on the local level. However, all of the students in the program are encouraged to complete at least one three-credit internship at a nationally recognized arts organization outside of the Lexington community. Generally students complete this type of internship during summers.

Faculty work with the students to identify internships that meet their interests and needs. The following is a listing of some of the places students have completed internships in recent years:
