Mark Casey

Mark Casey has been involved with the percussion activity for a number of years. He began his percussion career at the University of Kentucky where he was involved with many organizations including the Wind Ensemble, Percussion Ensemble, Steel Band, Marching Band, Indoor Drum line, and the Percussion Society. While at the University of Kentucky he was a member of the 1991 and 1993 indoor drum lines and was the Instructor of the 1994 and 1995 drum lines.

His drum corps career began in 1991 with The Cavaliers Drum and Bugle Corps. He played in the snare line for the 1991-93 seasons and was the section leader of the percussion section for the 1992 and 1993 seasons. The Cavaliers won the Percussion caption two of the three years Mark was a member, and won the DCI Championship in the 1992 season. After Mark aged out in 1993, he immediately began his teaching career in DCI as the Snare Technician and Battery Specialist for The Cavaliers. Mark worked with The Cavaliers for the 1994 season, the 1995 season which was another Championship year for Percussion as well as the Corps, and the 1996 season. In the 1997 season Mark furthered his teaching career to the international ranks by taking part in the inaugural season of the Yamato Drum and Bugle Corps from Japan. The 1998 season had Mark involved with The Phantom Regiment as the Percussion Caption Head. The 99 season will see Mark involved with the Yamato Drum and Bugle Crops once again.

Mark is not only an instructor in the activity, but also has been a writer/arranger/adjudicator for many years now. Some of the organizations include, The Cavaliers, The Phantom Regiment, The University of Kentucky, The University of Miami, Miami University of Ohio, Lafayette High School, and McGavock High School, where Mark is currently the Percussion Instructor and Arranger. Several members of The Cavaliers and The Phantom Regiment have become Individuals Champions while under his instruction. Winners include 1996 DCI Tenors Champion John Hadfield, 1996 DCI and 1997 PAS Snare Champion Naoki Ishkawa, 1996 PAS Tenors Champion Jim Bailey, and 1998 DCI Snare Champion Jeff Hassan. Mark is an artist and clinician for The Yamaha Corporation of America, Sabian, Vic Firth, and Innovative Percussion.
