Mark Hunter graduated from the drum line mecca, Prospect High School. There he and others were under the direction of yoda (Bret Kuhn). He spent four years (1997-2000) marching in The Cavaliers Snare Line. The last two years were victorious ones in the area of percussion.
Mark joined the wonderful halls of The University of Kentucky after his first season in drum corps. Here, he played snare for the seasons of 97, and 98. He took a heitus in the year of 99 to follow his real love, the ancient art of duck-billed platipus calls. He was back with a vengence after the immaculate, never to be out-done, summer of our lord, 2000, where he and his other Cavaliers summer-campers won a 2nd drum title (back to back no less). With this vengence he conquered the quadz, where he was section leader.
His indoor drum line experience includes 1997 Prospect Knightline, and 1999, and 2000 UK Drum Lines. In 2000 he wrote the closer which was Tweezer reprise by Phish. Mark is a devoted Phish phan. Look for him this year at WGI.
Mark helped teach the UK drum line this past year. They played two of his cadences (Melt & Butt-Funker), and also played his subdivision excersice (F.U.V.).
Mark has taught high school drum lines in Kentucky as well as Iowa. He is also on staff for BOA's percussion track of their summer symposium.
