Wildcat Marching Band Guard & Majorettes

The University of Kentucky Wildcat Marching Band is fortunate have two outstanding auxiliary units that provide additional color and pageantry at football games. The Guard and Sweetheart Majorettes are comprised of UK students that have been selected through auditions held during the spring semester. Auditions are held in Memorial Coliseum, and may include prepared routines, demonstration of marching fundamentals, and a "taught" routine.

2007 Color Guard Audition Information

Date, Time, & Location

1:00 pm-4:00 pm (EST), Saturday, June 9, 2007. Meet in the Band Room, Room 22, located in the Fine Arts Building, on the corner of Rose Street and Patterson Drive.

 
Parking

 

You may park in the lot across from the Fine Arts Building or in the lots behind Memorial Coliseum.
Procedures

 

Candidates will be taught a short routine to be performed as a group to determine the individual’s ability to quickly learn a new routine. Marching fundamentals will be displayed as part of the routine. All candidates will audition on flag.

Remember, no previous experience is necessary...just a GREAT ATTITUDE and a desire to PERFORM as a member of the Wildcat Marching Band.

 
Evaluation

 

Selection will be based on personal appearance, precision, coordination of routine and music, showmanship, quickness to learn and compatibility with the existing standards and traditions of the University of Kentucky Bands.

 
Misc.

 

Please wear blue shorts, white top, and tennis shoes or equivalent. You may bring your own flag, or we will provide one at the audition.

All candidates must apply for admission and be admitted to the University of Kentucky -or- Bluegrass KCTC as soon as possible. If you are unable to make this tryout date, but are still interested, please email the Guard Coordinator.
