Basketball Pep BandThe Basketball Pep Band plays an integral role at all Rupp Arena and Memorial Coliseum home games where we have the best seats in the house! At all times the band is being watched! It is imperative that we represent the University of Kentucky and the UK School of Music with integrity and pride during games and while away from campus. MembershipMembership in Basketball Pep Band is by audition for students enrolled and satisfactorily completing Marching Band - MUC 190. Men's games are held in Rupp Arena and Women's games in Memorial Coliseum. There will be a Men's Road Band (29 members, 1 Director) and a Women's Road Band (29 members, 1 Director). Selection for Road Band is at the discretion of the Director and is based upon instrumentation needs, musicianship, seniority, attendance and participation during the regular season. Women's Pep-Band is just as important as Men's. We must have a strong representation of the band at all games and tournament's. Attendance PolicyEach student is allowed one (1) absence without a sub. You are required to get a sub from the active list for each absence and arrange to have them perform for you. If the sub is not present, it will count as YOUR absence. After a second absence, or second time without a sub, you will be dropped from the pep band and not be eligible for Road Band. The Women's games are part of your performance assignment - you must attend the women's games you are assigned. No switching games. An absence from an assigned women's game will result in your immediate removal from the pep band for the men's games. The idea is to fill all of the seats for every game; we want to keep the seats that we have. RehearsalsRehearsals will be held in Room 22 (Band Room) two (2) hours before tip-off for men's games and one (1) hour before women's games. You must be present at the rehearsal to receive attendance credit. Two (2) tardy's to a rehearsal equal one (1) absence. Please arrive to rehearsals on time. Schedule Conflicts Any schedule conflicts that arise during the season must be brought to the director's attention as soon as you know about them - no last minute surprises!
