In 2004-2005 The Niles Gallery Series included an exceptional series of noontime performances by Appalachian traditional musicians. The Appalachian Music series was sponsored by the University of Kentucky Appalachian Center in partnership with the John Jacob Niles Center for American Music.

The series included:

• 9/24/2004 Lee Sexton, master banjo player from Line Fork, Kentucky, and Ray Slone, noted multi-instrumentalist from Hindman.
• 10/8/2004 Kentucky Wild Horse, a string band featuring Paul David Smith of Pike County, Kentucky.
  10/15/2004 Homer Ledford, celebrated instrument maker, bluegrass performer and author from Winchester, Kentucky.
• 10/22/2004 The Appalachian Association of Sacred Harp Singers recreating a 19th century frontier singing school.
• 10/29/2004 Cari Norris and Jim McGee, old time ballads, songs and fiddle tunes from Kentucky and North Carolina.
• 11/12/2004 Don Pedi, virtuoso dulcimer performer from Marshall, North Carolina.
• 11/19/2004 Sheila Kay Adams, balladeer, banjo player and author from Madison County, North Carolina.
• 12/3/2004 Kentucky Rocket Boosters - Breaking up Christmas with some of Central Kentucky's finest old time players.
