UK Gamelan

The UK Gamelan began with the three-year appointment of Dr. Han Kuo-Huang to the position of Visiting Professor of Ethnomusicology in 2004 under the auspices of the School of Music and the UK Asian Center. Dr. Han began the UK Gamelan ensemble with a borrowed set of Javanese instruments until the Balinese Gamelan Angklung was purchased for the university.

Dr. Han also leads Chinese music ensembles and presents two major performances each year of world music with the UK ensembles and guest artists.
