UK Women's Choir

The UK Women's Choir is an auditioned choir with approximately 100 students (freshman through graduate students). Our conductor is Dr. Lori Hetzel who is the Associate Director of Choral Ensembles at UK. Our assistant conductors are graduate students Ms. Laura Kitchel and Ms. Blair Brawner. Our accompanist is Mr. Rob Vanover. This year the president of Women's Choir is Kathryn Todd and the co-vice presidents are Martha Burke and Mandy Langston.

UK Women’s Choir Tours Internationally

In the summer of 2005, the UK Women's Choir gave concerts in France, Germany and Austria, including a performance in Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris. Read all about it!

The Women's Choir is starting an Alumni Association. Please read this letter for more information.

The Women's Choir has been invited to perform at several prestigious events, including the American Choral Directors Association National Convention (February, 2003), Southern Division of the American Choral Directors Association convention in Orlando, Florida (Spring, 2000) and the Southern Division of the Music Educators National Conference in Louisville, Kentucky (Spring, 2001). We also perform in local events including the Fall Intercollegiate Women's Choir concert, Fall Concert, Christmas Collage (with the other UK choirs), and Spring Concert.

However, the most unique thing about the Women's Choir is not our accomplishments. Rather it is the atmosphere of sisterhood among its members. Because the diversity of the group with nearly equal numbers of music majors and non-majors, freshman through seniors, there is a very non-competitive environment. We are a group of friends who come together to sing.
