Since 1997, Nancy Clauter has been the Oboe Professor at the University of Kentucky. Prof. Clauter was a founding member of Quintessence Chamber Ensemble, which won the Best Wind Group prize at the Fischoff Chamber Music Competition. Quintessence toured internationally to Puerto Rico, Mexico and Germany. Their performances in schools, throughout the US, averaged 80 assemblies a year including multiple residencies.
Prof. Clauter currently is the Principal Oboe with the Lexington Philharmonic. She has also played with the Phoenix, Knoxville, Owensboro, Louisville, Richmond (IN) orchestras, and the TradeWinds Ensemble (a Carl Fischer recording ensemble). She was the Artist-In-Residence at the Bay View Music Festival for 15 years. She has published two oboe books through Carl Fischer: Solos for Oboe and 48 Studies for Oboe Op. 31 by Franz Wilhelm Ferling, and Repertoire Classics for Oboe, which is published through Theodore Presser. August 2011, Prof. Clauter released her first solo CD entitled, MERIDIAN: The Ascending Journey.
Professor Clauter's teachers include Martin Schuring and William Criss. She has also performed at master classes with Elaine Douvas, Basil Reeves, and Ray Still.
