doors facing Singletary Center for the Arts

Building Security

Starting November 2005, the UK College of Fine Arts will be using a 24-hour security system in the Fine Arts Building. In order to reduce the risks of thefts and vandalism, the building will be locked down at 10PM every night (M-F) and during the weekends/holidays. In order to gain access to the building during these times, please bring your UK-ID card to Anne-Marie Shapla in 202 Fine Arts Building. After adding your ID card to the system, you can enter through the door facing Singletary Center by using the swipe card reader located to the right of the door. Much like at a hotel, your ID card is your "key" to get into the building when it is locked. After swiping your card, the door will automatically unlock. Please make sure never to prop open any of the building doors and to make sure when you are exiting the building that the doors close and lock securely behind you. This is for the protection and safety of everyone that uses this facility. If you have any questions or concerns regarding the new security system, please contact the Dean's Office at 859/257-1707 or email at ashap0@uky.edu.

Help Prevent Office Theft and Other Crimes:
-Keep your purse, wallet, keys, or other valuable items with you at all times or locked in a drawer or closet.
-Challenge all individuals who appear to be suspicious; this can be accomplished by simply asking, "May I help you?" or ask for a UK identification.
-Report any broken or flickering lights, dimly lit corridors, doors that don't lock properly, or broken windows. Don't wait for someone else to do it.

If you have an emergency, please call the UK Police Department by dialing 911. If you do not have an emergency and need to contact the  UK Police Department, please call the main dispatch number at (859)  257-1616 or from a cell phone by dialing #UKPD (#8573).
