Dr. Rhoda-Gale Pollack

 

Rhoda-Gale Pollack received her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in theatre from Carnegie-Mellon University, her Master of Arts in theatre from San Francisco State, and her Ph.D. from Stanford University. She has taught theatre all across the country including the University of California-Berkeley, Mills College, San Francisco State University and the University of Wisconsin-Parkside where she was founding Coordinator of Dramatic Arts and later Chairman of the Fine Arts Division (1980-86). She served for six years (1986-92) as Dean, College of Fine Arts at Wichita State University and for another six years (1992-1998) as Dean of the College of Fine Arts at the University of Kentucky.

Dr. Pollack has been an active member of the International Council of Fine Arts Deans (ICFAD) since 1984. She served on the ICFAD Board (1988-1990) and was President Elect (1991-92), President (1992-94) and Past President (1994-95).

Dr. Pollack's publications include scholarly articles and books including George S. Kaufman (published as part of Twayne's United States Authors Series in 1988) and A Sampler of Plays by Women (1990). She also continues to work as a theatre director and costume designer, with credits of over 75 professional productions.

In 1999, Dr. Pollack resumed her career as a Professor in the Department of Theatre here at UK. She directed Picnic in the Briggs Theatre in the Spring of 1999. She regularly teaches theatre history, directing, and script analysis.
