UK CFA Outreach Programs

The College of Fine Arts is constantly making an impact to our local community, regional area, and the general Commonwealth through exciting programs and outreach. Listed below are individual outreach programs which you can click on for more detailed information.

Fine Arts Institute - Develop your artistic skills and explore your creativity through the UK Department of Art's Fine Arts Institute! The institute offers you access to the classrooms and teaching resources of the UK Department of Art for a variety of non-credit community education courses. Fine Arts Extension Program - UK College of Fine Arts, in partnership with the UK College of Agriculture, is proud to have the nations first extension offices in Fine Arts. Through this program, the college will be able to utilize its resources in the arts in serving Kentuckians, honoring the ideals of a land-grant university. UK Currently has the following Fine Arts Extension Agents:

UK String Project - Started in 1989, the UK String Project connects UK students with children in the Lexington area with the mutual love for music. For more information on the UK Strings project, please contact Daniel Mason at: ukstringproject@gmail.com, 859-257-9683 or email.

Summer Dance Intensive - The summer dance intensive is offered for experienced high school and college dance students ages 14 and up. Led by Coordinator of the Dance Minor at UK, faculty member Susie Thiel and other dance artists, the program develops the abilities of experienced dancers who are serious about the field and eager to enhance their skills. Broadway Bound - Experience a fantastic, dazzling week developing new skills in the performing arts. Perform in a high-energy broadway-revue final production. For students in 1st through 8th grades. Academy for Creative Excellence
Classes in Singing-Acting-Dancing, Jazz/Tap/Ballet for the Musical Theatre performer, Acting Classes, Voice Lessons, Costume Design and more. Pianofest Keyboard Ensemble Camp
June. For grades 1-12. Campers will experience the excitement of teamwork as they participate in multi-keyboard ensembles under the direction of a professional conductor. For more information contact Vicki McVay: 859-257-2863 or vmcva00@uky.edu or www.pianofest.net (not a UK site).

Kentucky Band Camp
June. The Ultimate Camp  for Technique, Leadership and Learning - Drum Major Leadership Camp
Our expert staff of nationally known clinicians and instructors offer a challenging curriculum designed to provide leadership skills and inspire both the new and experienced drum major. For more information call 859-257-BAND or UK Bands.

The James Campbell Drumline Camp
June. The ultimate camp for the individual drummer, cymbal player, “pit” percussionist, or the entire section! Jim and his staff of experienced instructors offer a challenging curriculum designed to both inspire the beginner and challenge the advanced drum line.
