Faculty Curricular Teams
Each faculty curricular team is asked to create a clear and usable template outlining the key elements or operational criteria and their relative weight that a course proposal must include in order to qualify as a part of the General Education curriculum. The guiding documents for each team's work in developing a course approval template are the Design Principles of General Education and the General Education Learning Outcomes.
The teams will be assisted by members of the Library Faculty, who will help the team incorporate material on information literacy, one of the cross-cutting elements of the general education curriculum. In addition, Dr. Marsha Watson, the Director of Assessment, will work closely with each team to ensure that the team's template enumerates assessable objectives. Assistant Provost Susan Carvalho will coordinate the work of the curricular teams with the Steering Committee and Assistant Provost Richard Greissman will provide senior administrative support to the curricular teams. The teams have been given a tentative deadline of March 15, 2009 for the completion of course approval templates.
