Priorities in the
General Assembly

“Our legislative priorities reflect the essential next stage of investment in our progress toward Top 20 status.”

President Lee T. Todd, Jr.

The Kentucky General Assembly passed House Bill 1 in 1997, mandating the University of Kentucky to become a Top 20 public research institution by the year 2020. We took them seriously and developed a plan to get there. Our Top 20 Business Plan reflects our progress and commitment to meet that challenge. Our priorities in the upcoming legislative session are based on the belief that Kentucky deserves to have a Top 20 public research institution. We need the Kentucky General Assembly to continue to invest in this vision for the Commonwealth.
