risen for the fifth consecutive year and might continue to rise unless more long-term care
workers can be found, according to a new survey by Genworth Financial.

University of Kentucky Elder Care is a free employee benefit established to support regular full-time and part-time UK faculty, staff, retirees and their spouses nationwide who help their parents, spouses and other older family members. Our staff can assist by providing information, consultation, guidance, referrals, and by helping caregivers to plan ahead. The Elder Care Program has assisted employees with elders in 46 states ... Goals
The goals of U.K. Eldercare are to provide University Families with :
- immediate attention to employee elder care needs
- assistance in identifying current elder care needs
- detailed and personal referrals to community services
- a handbook on providing care to older family members
- printed information relevant to needs, such as fact sheets
- ongoing support to the employee, such as family counseling
- a program evaluation opportunity for all employees using the service
- the same quality of service for all employees regardless of sex, race, or job classification
- seminars related to elder care issues

June Campus Events:
Family Caregiver Training: Friday, June 27th at the Fayette County Extension Office from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. This informational training is designed specifically for family caregivers and sponsored by the Alzheimer’s Association, UK Alzheimer’s Disease Center, and Bluegrass Area Agency on Aging. Cost is $10.00. For information, call (800) 272-3900. Free respite by calling 269-8021 by June 21st.
Care Group June Meeting
CARE Group June meetings are in three locations. The next meeting dates are: June 12th in 220 Scovell Hall, Suite 1; June 19th in UK Hospital, Rm. C110; and June 26th Peterson Service Building, Room 379. Meetings are from 12 – 1:00 p.m. If you are not presently attending please contact Elder Care for details and more information. Newcomers are welcome at anytime.
