UK Employee Assistance Program REFER
What is REFER?
REFER, a mental health benefit for UK employees, is a professional therapy clinic (UK Family Center) available to assess your individual and family needs. Located on the second floor of Scovell Hall, REFER offers affordable sliding-scale payment options, confidential sessions, and flexible scheduling. REFER is staffed by Marriage and Family Therapist-In-Training, educated with the skills necessary to help you and your family work through a variety of issues. Additionally, our therapists can refer you to the appropriate University of Kentucky or community resource if specialized help is needed.
As a benefit to UK employees, there is no charge for the initial assessment and consultation session. After this first free session, fees will be based on your household income and number of people in the home. Fee reductions are available.

Why REFER?

In the course of these changes, there are times when each of us may want or need some assistance to put things in perspective. This is when REFER, your Employee Assistance Program, can help.
If you are seeking help with personal, couple, or family concerns, your REFER benefit at the UK Family Center may be a good resource for you. Our therapists are trained to help you with a variety of issues such as:
- Breakdown in family communication
- Childhood development concerns
- Child/adolescent behavior management
- Marital conflict
- Sexual dissatisfaction
- Stress at work or home
- Separation and divorce issues
- Pre-marital concerns or issues
- Family problems related to illness, loss, or gain of a family member
- Eating disorders
- Interpersonal relationships
- Depression
- Anxiety
Additionally, the UK Family Center is also able to provide resources for specialized and/or non-mental health related issues such as legal or financial problem, substance abuse, and physical health problems.
