UK REFER FAQ

How can I contact REFER?

Call 257-1467 Monday through Friday between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. If we are not in or you call after hours, just leave a message, and we will return your call within 24 hours or the next business day.

We are in room 205 Scovell Hall, located in the Central Campus of the University.

How does REFER work?

You may refer yourself when problems become too much to handle on your own. Also, your supervisor, manager, dean, or department head may discuss with you and suggest a referral to REFER when a difficulty is affecting or has the potential to affect your job performance.

What are the costs?

The initial problem assessment and consultation session provided by REFER is free to all employees. If you and your REFER therapist decide to continue working together in addressing your problems, then you may continue to work with him or her through the Family Center. Information about fees is available from the person who takes your call to REFER. The Family Center has a sliding scale fee that is based on your family income.

If a community referral seems more appropriate for you, your REFER therapist will work with you to find someone whose services your insurance may cover. If you require services not covered by insurance, your REFER therapist will try to help minimize the cost by referring you to an appropriate agency.
