Show Your Love with Lots of Helping Hands
Over the past three months, the Office of Work Life has been promoting its newest program Lotsa Helping Hands - a free web based tool kit that will help you connect with others and ask for help. To date, approximately 325 employees have visited the site and 10 have created communities of care. Co-workers are using the site to take care of their elderly relatives, school groups, and community volunteer groups.
One employee uses the site to share information about his mother’s health with siblings who live in multiple states. The family is using the calendar to pre-schedule her trips from house to house, including her dietary needs! Another employee plans to use the site in the fall when she coordinates many parent volunteers for the concession stand at her high school son’s football games. In both instances, hours of time, sleepless nights, extra hours in the car and on the phone have been saved.
In short, using Lotsa Helping Hands enables UK employees to identify the big and small ways people can help them. Family and friends can access the site and sign up for activities. They will even receive e-mail reminders, so they won’t forget. The site now connects with Facebook, allowing for greater opportunities to connect with large circles of friends.
