July/August Greetings from the Director

Honoring Supervisors who Support Us
Do you have a supervisor who understands and supports Work/Life balance, and is sensitive to individual needs while mindful of maintaining high productivity? Does you supervisor treat all employees with dignity, respect and integrity? Does your supervisor exhibit a positive leadership style which empowers you to be your best?.
If you can answer YES to any of these questions, consider nominating him or her for the second annual Work-Life Supervisor of the Year award. The nomination process is simple: complete a nomination form, located on our web site, explaining why your supervisor deserves this award. The winner will be honored at a luncheon on October 28, as part of UK’s celebration of National Work and Family Month.
Last year’s winner was Barry Russell of Auxiliary Service, who was selected by the National Work and Family Month planning committee. Barry was given our first annual award for his long-standing support of his staff’s need for flexible work arrangements as a tool to better manage their caregiving needs. As the caregiver of his mother and step-father, Barry has experienced first-hand the importance of managing work and personal responsibilities. To help him be successful, he utilizes Elder Care support services. Leading by example, he encourages his staff to seek out UK support and services so that they can be their best at home and at work
Employee satisfaction surveys indicate that our supervisors play a vital role in our engagement in the work place. Help us honor those UK supervisors who are instrumental in helping us be our best both at work and at home. Nominate your supervisor today!.
For more information, contact the Work-Life Office at 257-8763 or 257-1003. The deadline for nominations is September 11.
