October is full of interesting and important pet events! North Shore Animal League America has declared "CATober The First" as the birthday of shelter cats everywhere. Learn more about this event as well as the benefits of adopting an older cat.
Halloween can be a stressful time for pets. Don't forget to check out North Shore's Halloween Safety Tips to keep your pets happy and healthy during this busy time of year. This is also a good time of year to review your emergency/disaster plans for your pets. The Lexington Humane Society has some suggestions to consider as you make your yearly review of your supplies and plans.
Finally, don't forget that October is also National Adopt a Shelter Dog Month. The American Humane Organization offers information on this special month. The Lexington Humane Society is offering special rates on dog adoption. The Woodford Humane Society is offering a discounted adoption rate on all black pets, as well!
