Work-Life

National Work and Family Month at UK was a Success

UK employees had the opportunity to attend over 40 workshops on work-life issues during October. Approximately 500 employees attended on a wide range of topics , such as retirement investments, personal money management, childcare, career development, elder care, stress management, relationship skill building and time management. When asked what they liked best about the workshops, the majority of attendees appreciated the knowledgeable speakers and the information they received; the opportunity to ask questions, and the casual atmosphere of the workshops.Attendees gave many great suggestions for next year’s event. Suggested topics include career improvement, school management, age-related family issues, adjusting to blended families, retirement issues for same-sex couples, planning for retirement in your 20’s, planning for retirement in your 50’s, conflict management, meditation, credit scores and mortgage rates. The planning committee will consider these suggestions as already begin planning for 2008.

Many thanks to the planning committee for their hard work in organizing these events. Members included Terri Kanatzar, Janice Austin, Kay Gaines, Julia Shaw, John Buzzard, Gail Carbol, Jody Ensman, Kathryn Wong and Robyn Mowery. Also thank you to the moderators of sessions: Karen Stafeniak, Robin Fischer, Mac Werner, Melissa McDonald, Deborah Murray, Emily Ricketts, Mary McLaren and Sharon Keys.
