Alternative Transportation Resources for UK Employees

photo car As gas prices continue to rise, many people are looking for alternatives to their typical daily commutes to work. The Work-Life Office is dedicated to helping you in your search for solutions. Carpooling, biking, and mass transit are some options to consider. In addition to the obvious economic benefits to you, alternative transportation helps the environment and has also been shown to reduce stress levels.

Bringing your bicycle to campus?

UK Parking and Transportation Services (PTS) requires all bikes on campus to be registered. The free bicycle registration program will help:

  • Reduce bike thefts and help you recover your bike if it is stolen.
  • Provide valuable data about bike use on campus.
  • Reduce costs to cyclists by allowing PTS to contact owners of improperly parked bikes as an alternative to impoundment.
  • Assist us in getting information out to UK cyclists.

There are several ways to apply for a bicycle permit:

FREE STUFF!!

PTS is partnering with The Wildcat Wheels Bicycle Library to promote the benefits of the bike registration program and to make cycling on campus a positive experience for everyone. The first 1,000 people to register AND complete an online bicycle education survey will receive a free LED bike light and will be registered to win a fully equipped commuter bicycle! For more info and to take the survey, visit a www.ukbikesurvey.org.
