Brian Connors Manke: A Brief Bio
I am from Cleveland, OH and graduated in 1993 from Ohio State University with a B.A. in Broadcast Journalism. I worked in various production roles for ABC Sports and ESPN for over 15 years – from Monday Night Football, Super Bowl, World Series, British Open, Indy 500 – while also working as a freelance writer during that time. From 1997-2001 I worked at the Cleveland Plain Dealer in the Sports department. My wife and I moved to Athens, OH from 2001-2003, where I worked in the Athletics office at Ohio University, and we then moved to Lexington and I began working in the College of Arts & Sciences in 2007.
I fully enjoy getting to work with students and mentor them in a creative environment – I definitely feed off of their energy. Not only are they able to get their education here, but we are also helping build their resumes and portfolios by having them produce high-quality work that can strategically strengthen their professional outlook. Also, the fellow staff that oversees the Hive is amazing to work with – ingenuity, a vision and plenty of dedication make it a great place to work.
My interests outside of work allow me to be a musician and artist in town, and I still have ties to athletics as I work for the Southeastern Conference during football season.
I also am a big cycling advocate and ride my bike to work every day of the year.
