UK@Work Survey Results: Dependent Care
Two of five (38 percent) respondents have one or more children under 18 years of age, and one in five (20 percent) plan to have or adopt a child in the next few years. The chart below, which combines both staff and faculty responses, reflects levels of current and/or expected parenting responsibilities.

Additional findings in this area include the following:
- One-sixth (16 percent) of parents are single parents
- Parents noted difficulty finding reliable and quality childcare and emergency back-up care.
More than one out of every 10 respondents (11 percent) currently have adult dependent/elder care responsibilities, and more than a quarter of remaining respondents (28 percent) do not currently have such responsibilities, but expect to in the next few years.
Respondents with adult dependent/elder care responsibilities cite difficulty finding affordable resources and quality care.
