The University of Kentucky has developed the position of Benefits Advocate to assist employees, retirees, and their dependents in resolving their complex claim issues, especially in the area of medical benefits.  The Benefits Advocate will work in a collaborative role to counsel and support members by providing assistance through working with third party administrators, UK employee benefit managers and the plan participant to resolve any benefit related issue. The position will also provide proactive customer service by seeking out those with medical conditions, and coordinating their needs with the University's health plan programs, such as disease management, Wellness, and Elder Care.

With this position, the benefits office will increase its efficiency and reduce member frustrations which are felt while resolving claim payments and gaining access to health care services.
