Individual Consultations

A career consultant is available to meet with you for free and confidential career coaching. Career coaching may be helpful to you if:

• you don’t know where to start
• you feel ‘stuck’ in your current position and are not sure if/how to move forward
• you have some career goals and ideas you would like to discuss with a career coach
• you are uncertain about what you can, or want, to do next in your career at UK

Career Assessments

A number of self-assessments are available to help you clarify your interests, values, skills and personality preferences related to your career development. You and your career consultant will work together to decide if any of these might be beneficial to you in your individual career planning.

Resume and Application Assistance

Resume critiques and suggestions for improving your online job application will help you make sure you are putting your best foot forward. We recommend that you first use the free online tool Pongo Resume© to improve your current resume or for help in creating a resume from scratch. Then you may request and appointment with a career consultant for a resume review.

Interview Coaching

If it has been some time since you had an employment interview or if you are not getting desirable results after your interviews, Career Development can assist you with improving your skills. An online tool, Interview Mastery©, walks you through a step-by-step process. Written materials, books and individual practice sessions (mock interviews) with a career consultant are also available to help you become a star in your next interview.

Individual Career Development Plans

Create your Individual Career Development Plan (ICDP) on your own or with a career consultant. Features of Career Innovation will help you assess your competencies, evaluate your fit for your current position, consider/explore options for making your current work more interesting, complete a goals analysis and much more.

Career Resource Browsing Library

A collection of current books on job searching, interviewing, resume writing, cover letter development, career/life planning, and career advancement are available for you to browse and check out. Review titles and book summaries online and drop by the Career Development office any time between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. to use these resources. Please check in with the receptionist in Room 123, Scovell Hall.
