Behavior Based Interviewing Series (101, 201, and 301)
Duration: 1.5 to 2.0 hours (varies each section)
How do you know if you are asking the right questions in an interview? You don’t want to waste your time or the applicant’s time, however you do want to select the best-fit candidate for your position. It is proven that the most efficient and effective way to gather the information you need to make the right hiring decision is to use behavioral based questions. This series is designed to introduce manageable segments of the behavior based interviewing concept. The classes are created to build off the material presented in the previous training. After attending all three classes, you will have an in-depth understanding of what questions to ask, what information to gather, and how to analyze the information you receive to make an informed hiring decision.

Behavior Based Interview 401 NEW!
Duration: 2.5 hours
Have you learned about behavior based interviewing but never had the chance to practice it? Have you ever used a behavior based interview guide and questioned whether you were using it effectively? Or maybe you've never used an interview guide, but are interested in adding it to your hiring and selection process. The Behavior Based Interviewing (BBI) 401 training session is designed as a practice session for hiring officials. During this session you’ll conduct a behavior based interview and get useful feedback. This training will also walk you through how to use a BBI interview guidefrom beginning to end. Behavior based interviewing is an effective interviewing technique, but as with all things, practice is necessary in order to maximum the benefits and in this case hire the right candidate.

Behavior Based Interviewing 1-Day
Duration: 8.0 hours

Although you don’t want to waste your time or the applicant’s time, you do want to select the best-fit candidate for your position. It is proven that the most efficient and effective way to gather the information you need to make the right hiring decision is to use behavioral based questions. This training is designed to introduce the behavior based interviewing concept, provide an in-depth understanding of what types of questions to ask, and how to analyze the information gathered to make an informed and legally creditable hiring decision. This class will also help decipher the dos and don’ts of interview questions, identifying what’s appropriate and inappropriate to discuss during the hiring and selection process, by reviewing federal and state legislation as well as University policies and procedures.
After attending the Behavior Based Interviewing 1-Day training session, you will have a better understanding of:
- The concept of behavior based interviewing.
- How to use a position’s “Major Job Responsibilities” or “Dimensions” to build interview questions.
- What information to solicit from applicants to effectively evaluate and select the best-fit candidate.
- How to evaluate all information received during the selection process as well as from all of the involved selection team members.
- How to ensure your hiring and selection process is legally appropriate.

How to Develop an Effective Job Posting
Duration: 2.0 hours
Have you ever posted a position and received applicants that do not have the required skills, knowledge and abilities to do the job? Or found yourself with an overwhelming number of applicants who might be qualified, but not sure how to determine what applicants to move to the next phase of the hiring and selection process. If so, the first step is ensuring you have the best posting possible! This class will provide you an opportunity to learn how to compile an engaging job summary as well as create effective posting specific questions. This will provide a built-in screening resource, enhance your overall job posting, and increase the number of qualified candidates.

Legal Considerations: The Dos and Don’ts of Interview Questions
Duration: 2.0 hours
Have you ever wanted to ask a candidate a question but thought it might be inappropriate or illegal? If so, this training is for you! This class will help decipher the dos, don’ts and why’s of what is appropriate and inappropriate to discuss in an interview. Participants will review federal and state legislation as well as University policies and procedures to understand the proper way to ask job-related questions and obtain the information you need to make the right hiring decision.

UK’s Hiring Process & Interviewing Techniques
Duration: 4.0 hours (same information covered in SuperVision as of December 2008)
How do you know what steps to take to hire a new employee at UK? Or know what resources and tools are available to aid you through the process? This training will walk you through the fundamentals of UK’s hiring process. We will take a step-by-step approach to ensure that you understand everything from posting a job requisition, screening and interviewing your applicants, and processing all the necessary paperwork to officially offer and hire a candidate. This class will also introduce successful interviewing techniques to focus on getting the right person for your position. This four hour session has also been part of the campus and hospital SuperVision since December 2008.
