I-9 Process Update and Background Checks
To ensure Pre-employment National Background Checks (PNBC) are completed with all initial hires as required by law, Human Resources requires that the background check process be initiated before any HR staff member will complete the initial hire's I-9 form. If the PNBC has not been requested, the staff at Human Resources will attempt to reach the hiring official or business officer; if s/he cannot be located, the applicant will be assisted in completing an online application (if necessary), and then given a letter to brief the department on the need for the initiation of the PNBC prior to completion of the I-9.
