"Research" Positions and Expanded Background Checks

An expanded Pre-employment National Background Check (PNBC) is required for specific positions on campus, including some of those involved in research.  The expanded check will indicate if a prospective employee has been proven to falsify research results.  While the expanded check is appropriate for primary positions directly involved in research, all personnel inside a research area may not have direct involvement in research activities or data recording.

Generally speaking, an expanded check may be most appropriate for Principal Investigators and Co-principal Investigators hired to conduct sponsored project research and any other hires conducting human subject research.

Questions regarding this e-mail or general questions regarding the PNBC Process can be directed to Jon Gent at 257-2608 or Jon.Gent@uky.edu.
